Event Details

As a part of the Stretch and Strength corporate fast, Remnant is focusing on Health and Fitness! Throughout the month we will receive articles and tips to build and educate us during this journey. Our ultimate goal is to be fit for the Master's use, enabling us to be fully effective for our "kaleo" of evangelism. To jumpstart our fitness component, Remnant will be preparing for a 5k walk/run on Feb. 13! (Cupid Chase @ White Rock Lake http://www.comop.org/cupidschase/) The walk/run event is optional, however, the larger focus is beginning a fitness program or enhancing your current program. Every week will send out another level to the 6-week Couch-to-5k walk/run program. More details on the 5k to come, but the first week of the program is below. Get started tomorrow!

Week 1: 3-4 days
Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 30 minutes.

Find the rest of the  Couch-to-5K program here! http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

A few inspirational quotes to get you going!

Accept the challenge
"Everyone is an athlete. But some of us are training, and some of us are not." --Dr. George Sheehan, runner/writer/philosopher

Shoot for this (at least)
"Running 8 to 15 miles per week significantly increases your aerobic capacity, and positively effects many of the coronary risk factors." --Dr. Kenneth Cooper, aerobics pioneer

Be a minuteman
"The biggest mistake that new runners make is that they tend to think in mile increments--1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles. Beginning runners need to think in minutes, not miles." --Budd Coates, four-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier/coach
